A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination must be conducted by a licensed “medical examiner” listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry. Dr. Merrill has been on the National Registry since 2015 and has helped hundreds of drivers to remain compliant and within federal standards. During the exam, Dr. Merrill with review your health history with you, perform a urinalysis, perform a physical exam, and then issue your results and/or Medical Examination Certificate.
Some quick tips to be fully prepared include:
- No caffeine or nicotine for 30 minutes before the exam
- Wear short sleeves, bring eyeglasses or hearing aids if needed
- Make sure you have a list of current medications and prescribing doctors
- Bring relevant medical records
